Locks will be cut tomorrow for the 3 units that are still left unpaid and available for Auction tomorrow, July 21, 2011. This is now the most famous, but definitely my least favorite part of operating a self-storage.
Beatline Road Mini-Storage has been operating for over 25 years. I haven't a clue how many auctions we've held, but it was certainly a surprise that a television show about auctions would be successful. I am of the opinion those units may be salted...it doesn't seem likely that anyone, however stuck they might be couldn't come up with enough storage rent to save some of the great finds that I've seen on the show. Folks sure are interested in storage auctions these days.
I entered the auction once myself more than 10 years ago...it was just work and granted the girls got some fun dress-up, but the item I really wanted...a safe was so water damaged, but that couldn't be seen from the doorway. I learned a lesson. I make my living renting space. I'll let the experts make a living at judging the value of stored stuff!
